I was talking to my friend and fellow Climatebase fellow Dustin about food topics in the climate space, and he brought up a marketing email from Chipotle that encouraged customers to switch to dark mode on their devices to save energy and reduce emissions. We both raised an eyebrow, since one of the biggest things Chipotle could actually to do promote sustainability to customers is to encourage them to purchase chicken or vegetarian options more often instead of beef.

So we took a deep dive into the impact of these emissions reduction tactics and spoiler alert, dark mode doesn’t do much and avoiding beef does a lot.
